A Positioning System in an Urban Vertical Heterogeneous Network (VHetNet)

Global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) are essential in providing localization and services to most of the world due their superior coverage. However, high pathloss inevitable atmospheric effect, positioning performance any standalone GNSS is still poor urban areas. To enhance legacy GNSSs areas, a system, which utilizes altitude platform station (HAPS) 5G gNodeBs (gNBs), futuristic vertical heterogeneous network (VHetNet) proposed. In this paper, we demonstrate effectiveness gNBs improving for both GPS-only system HAPS-aided GPS by analyzing impact density pseudorange error gNB on augmented systems.
